New Color Chain Strategy

New color chain strategy - expansion events are arranged along horizontal lines instead of a grid. Notice that the dots do not line up vertically. This approach allows more freedom in the application process, with greater latitude for research and discovery through improvisation - reacting as I go along without a preconceived plan. Notations of the formulas are recorded after application, the horizontal layout allowing enough structure for useful information to be retained.

Vertical Sequential Color

#1009, vertical sequential color, 36"h x 11"w. watercolor, ink suspended in polyvinyl resin glue on wood.

Colors change gradually as they move down the format. 9 colors, 11 positions means the colors are always offset by two, resulting in a diagonal swath of darker, cooler colors moving up thru the center of the painting from lower left to upper right.
