MY KEEPER (Formula #11-72)

One of my favorite "single dot" pieces of 2011. Successful deep blue/purple formulas are rare - and the complexity of this particular expansion event has yet to be repeated. Such is the mercurial nature of my endeavors in this process.

I allow myself the luxury of keeping a few special pieces for myself each glue season (may-november) and this is one of them. (Click to enlarge.)

MODULAR INSTALLATION, FRESH PAINT ART, CULVER CITY, CA - MAY 2011

A demonstration of the flexibility of single-dot and small multi-dot pieces when combined in a dynamic arrangement. My thanks to Helene Brown and her talented crew for this spectacular installation.

The 2011 glue season begins in earnest with the completion of this first large glue painting.

Modular

A new development of the 2010 glue season - single expansion events which can be installed in a flexible modular arrangement. This group was exhibited in a show entitled "Becoming" at True World Gallery in Joshua Tree, CA, December 2010.

New Color Chain Strategy

New color chain strategy - expansion events are arranged along horizontal lines instead of a grid. Notice that the dots do not line up vertically. This approach allows more freedom in the application process, with greater latitude for research and discovery through improvisation - reacting as I go along without a preconceived plan. Notations of the formulas are recorded after application, the horizontal layout allowing enough structure for useful information to be retained.
